CURIOUS, Strategic, Detailed, Creative, Empathetic, Collaborative, Enthusiastic
Hello! I'm Keegan Garvey and I'm a user experience designer/product design leader and a maker. I'm constantly creating new things - whether digitally or with my own two hands. Daily I am learning, exploring and discovering different ways to solve business, technical, and experience problems for the interactions people encounter on their devices and in their daily lives. For each challenge I like to break out all the parts and pieces —like a good puzzle, and figure out the best way to put it all together to make things easier and delightful for users.
The world of technology is a rapidly evolving, exciting place – constantly challenging us to make things more approachable, more understandable, and more efficient. These challenges are why I enjoy waking up to a job that is always considering design. Creating frictionless and frustration-free experiences that don't have a giant learning curve for target users are two key things I aim to accomplish.
As a maker, I need to do something creative everyday. Whether that’s put together a new outfit for myself, make a pair of earrings, do some watercolor with my kids, embroider flowers onto a hat, sew a quick throw pillow (or two) - or make one of my drawers ‘more organized.’ I love feeling productive, creative, and working towards something.
A few other tidbits about me…
When I'm not glued to my laptop, I love working on home renovation projects, crafting, gardening, baking, Netflix-ing with my family, going to concerts, or to my kiddos sporting events. Yay, support!
I live in Bloomington, Minnesota with my husband, 10-year-old son, 8-year-old daughter, and 3 rescue dogs. I am a transplant from Iowa — born and raised in Clinton where I grew up boating and fishing on the Mississippi River with my family, swimming daily in our pool, and playing various sports: soccer, softball, volleyball, gymnastics, track, and golf.
My favorite colors are turquoise, grey, black, and navy and my sign is Aries.
I love music. I play the violin and was in orchestra up through high school. I'm teaching myself to play the guitar as I received a white Fender telecaster for Mother's Day a few years ago. I’m dreaming of buying more instruments. Rock on!
My favorite genres of movies and tv shows are: Sci-fi, Fantasy, Super Heros, Murder Mysteries, and True Crime.
